Beauty Shoot

Here are some images from my last shoot. I wanted to make the shots a little more interesting with the make up, striking yet subtle. I am pretty happy the way these turned out.

Outline of research report

This is the basic outline of my research paper and what I will be covering in it.

1. How to get started in travel photography - travel vs assisting.
2. Amateurs vs professionals in Travel photography in Australia.
3. How to keep work coming in and people keep coming back. Stock libraries, book publishers, articles etc.
4. How to get your work published and purchased - promotion.
5. Comparing a few travel photographers in Australia and what makes them stand out.
6. My own work - influences and findings (thoughts). How I intend on stepping out into the big wide world.

CMAG exhibition

These were my favourite images done by Ted Richards in the 60's of Canberra. I like looking at old photographs from places that I have been to or live in and looking at the changes that have been made. It is quite an interesting collection of images.

This exhibition was an interesting insight into Canberra's history and the photographers that have made something of this fairly small City. I found the exhibition space small, yet it really worked well with the photographs and the layout of it ran smoothly. The different way that each photographer displayed their work- either pinned or framed, was also a way of making each work look unique. I found the lighting in the space a little too low on some works (some of them didn't even have any!), to really view an image properly, it should be well lit. Overall, i found this exhibition quite pleasant and i also learned a bit about Canberra's history and the story behind each of the artists.

ACMP exhibition at the Showcase Gallery

I was impressed by the quality of the work overall, yet some images didn't quite meet the standard that some other photographers in the exhibition had set. The images that are presented in this exhibition space were pinned fairly closely together, however there was a bare wall as you walk in to the right. I would have spread them out a little more, so that each individual work could be viewed more personally. The lighting set up in the space was also done quite poorly, they were not directed at any particular work and some works had no light source (besides natural sunlight) on them whatsoever.
Overall, was an enjoyable exhibition.

Drawing with Light shoot #2.

This was the second shoot I did with Penina, she is one of the fashion designers that I am also working with for the project. She wanted something a little more abstract and not so literal as a fashion shoot. Her work is made for women ranging in sizes between 12-16. She wanted some overlapping, negatives and playing with shape in the images. Like the other shoot that I did on location, these are not going to be part of my portfolio. Penina and I will be working together in the next day to come up with some more interesting and abstract pieces, just to push it that bit further. Would still be good to get some feedback on them.

Shoot #2.

I did a shoot last week in the studio, it was based around Baby doll. For me, that is the use of strong, bold, yet simple make up. I have used Alison once again, she is at the CMA. I am happy with these shots, considering I usually do location work with portraits of any sort. The blown out areas I find suite the image, as it gives it that contrast effect that i wanted - and they were intentional!
