fashion shoot - in the wild

Im in the process of planning a fashion shoot on Monday with two fashion designers at CIT. It is going to be a part of the Drawing with Light project. There is a lot of organizing to do as there are models, make up artists, and the fashion designers. Its really hard to get everyone together as they all have work, school or other commitments. So now im in the process of seeing who can make it to the shoot. We have a location where there is long tall grass, and not much else surrounding. I want really strong colours and lines, also doing interesting hair adds to the 'wild' effect.
Hopefully, everything works out!!

Pic from the first shoot

This is one of my photos from the shoot at the bar. I am pretty happy with this one. Ive played around in photoshop a little to get some more contrast. I would love some feedback on it.

Primary Research Plan

I have been doing some research on the Internet and looking at travel photographers in Australia. I have begun emailing a couple with some questions, and they are as follows.
1. How did you begin your business? Start travelling and building a portfolio? What would be your recommendation?
2. Have you done a course on photography?
3. Was it hard to get started in such a popular area of photography?
4. How would you set yourself apart from amateur photographers?
5. How do you make a living from it? Do you have regular sales and where do you show/sell your work?
6. How do you promote yourself to get the next job?
Along with this, I intend to get in touch with Lonely Planet Images and see what their standard is for the photographers that they accept. This will help me in seeing how I can begin my entry into such a popular photo library and potential jobs from it.

Inspirational!!

So, I went onto Lonely Planet Images and found Alan Benson's work. Even though i did my industry placement with him, I haven't seen all his images from Europe etc. He has done many books, but he is no where to be found on the internet. Alan doesn't need a website because he has no need to promote himself even further. I was very inspired by his work and am very glad that he was the person that I chose and was apple to do my placement with. This is the type of work i want to do.

Cocktail theme

I did my first shoot today. After about 4-5 hrs at a the bar, most of my ideas weren't really going to work. It was more of an experimentation with the lighting kit that sun studios sent down last week. I think that there is a few photos that would be good, but overall I am not too happy with the outcome. There were too many distracting things in the backdrops, this is where Photoshop comes in handy. I am just glad that I started something, I've already begun making plans for my next fashion shoot which will take place next week sometime.

2+1 again

So, as i said in my last post, I have changed my mind just in time to change one of my images. I thought that the 3 photos didn't quite flow as well as i would have hoped them to. This made me come to a decision to have a theme of 'in the dark'. Having this theme, the image with the feet underwater has been replaced by this one. This image was part of my location folio last semester and I thought it would look good when printed big.
(Don't know why the photo came out like this on this blog site.)

2+1

So, after some tough decisions on what to put in this exhibition and many peoples opinion (not really, only bout 2) i decided to put these three images up. Even though i know soon enough i will look back and think why i didn't put something else up, the decision has been made. So hopefully, im still happy with these in 2 weeks time!
